Leaving school?

Together we make a plan for your future by finding options and giving you the opportunity to try out new things.

We do this step by step

Step 1: Signing up

We meet with you and your whānau and your school to get to know each other and talk about your goals.

Step 2: Planning

We discuss your dreams, find out about your skills and what you want to learn. We also talk about what you do and don’t like doing. From there we set some achievable goals together.

Step 3: Action plan

We put the plan into action – this can include:

  • Exploring employment options, including work experience
  • Finding out about courses and training options
  • Getting your finances and legal matters in order
  • Trying new things in your community
  • Looking into regular daily support options

Step 4: Checking in

Once your plan is underway we can finalise any ongoing support you need and ensure you have everything set up before you leave school. If anything changes we can go back and look at how we can make it work together.

Funding

You can access support through the Ministry of Social Development’s Ongoing Resource Scheme (ORS) funding.
